Why EasternReset Exists

by Evan, Founder

My grandfather spent his life practicing traditional health cultivation in China. My earliest memory of him is behind thick reading glasses, studying classical texts late into the evening — not for reputation or money, but because neighbors kept arriving at our door. He built simple, low-cost routines for real problems: seasonal eating that followed the solar calendar, gentle food remedies for digestion and sleep, and simplified versions of tai chi and baduanjin that needed no equipment. When people asked why he gave so much away, he said: health should not be a luxury. It should be an ordinary part of everyday life.

I left my hometown in 1990 for a career in medical technology. Like many modern city dwellers, I traded balance for pace: long hours, endless sitting, poor sleep, and the quiet erosion of feeling unwell without being ill. It was my grandfather’s philosophy — gentle, practical, rooted in daily life — that helped me find my way back.

Years of living across China’s cities taught me something else. Beneath the surface of modern life, this country holds genuine, practical wisdom — about food, seasons, movement, and how to live well in a city — that the outside world rarely gets to see. For international students, investors, expats, and travelers, that knowledge is gold.

After my grandfather passed away, I made a decision: to carry his work forward. EasternReset is the result — his inheritance, translated into a modern discipline of evidence grading, expert review, and full citation. We turn time-tested traditions into lifestyle protocols that are affordable, adaptable to any supermarket, and built for real lives.

Health is not a luxury. It is a reset away.

Individual experiences described here are personal accounts, not representative outcomes.

What We Do

EasternReset systematizes the classical traditions of Chinese health cultivation — including the Huangdi Neijing (Yellow Emperor’s Inner Canon), the Shanghan Lun (Treatise on Cold Damage), seasonal agricultural wisdom, meridian theory, pattern differentiation, and qigong. These traditions stretch back roughly 3,000 years, with their core canonical texts compiled over 2,000 years ago. We transform this material into actionable, reproducible, and fully traceable lifestyle protocols and tools through modern evidence grading, expert review, and a discipline of complete source citation. Built for modern humans — wherever you live.

We don’t sell courses. We don’t run membership subscriptions. We don’t auto-bill.
We publish lifestyle protocols that work — and show our work.

Methodology: Three-Tier Evidence Grading

Every guide displays an Evidence Tier so you can judge the strength of the supporting data yourself.

Tier Definition Typical Sources
Tier A Strong, consistent evidence from high-quality studies or official authoritative sources. Systematic reviews, Meta-analyses, RCTs, Official Clinical Guidelines (NIH, NICE, CNS), Government Gazettes, Statutes.
Tier B Moderate or preliminary evidence; plausible mechanism; limited human data. Single-center RCTs, Cohort studies, Classical Source Texts (original), Expert Consensus, Field-verified Data (10+ years).
Tier C Theoretical, experiential, or limited evidence. Clearly labeled as such. Practitioner Experience, Case Observations, Community-Verified Feedback, Historical Precedent.

Expert Review

  • Health / lifestyle guides: reviewed by licensed physicians (MD), licensed acupuncturists (L.Ac.), certified nutrition specialists (CNS), or registered dietitians (RD) as our expert network grows.
  • Visa / policy guides: reviewed by licensed immigration attorneys or verified specialists.
  • Reviewer name, credentials, and review date are published on each reviewed guide. Reviewers hold veto power over publication.
  • Guides currently in the free preview phase carry an editorial review by EasternReset Team under our public Editorial Standards until a named specialist review is published.

Working with Scholars

We work alongside academic scholars specializing in traditional ancient texts. Our joint work focuses on textual collation, source verification, and evidence-hierarchy classification of pre-modern Chinese health-cultivation manuscripts. All outputs are educational lifestyle resources and are not intended as medical evaluation or therapy.

Collaborating scholars are credited by academic title; institutional affiliations are disclosed only with the scholar’s written consent. Health Disclaimer →
